‘West of Weird’ Art Tour 2027

The premier Art Tour in the Texas Hill Country is back!!!

DSAL’s West of Weird Art Tour is the easiest way for member artists to showcase your art and share your workspace and inspiration with the community. No packing up, no canopies, no weather worries. Just open your doors and provide a welcoming environment for visitors.
 
Last year’s West of Weird (WoW) Art Tour was amazing – 35 artists, 500+ visitors, over $30k of local art sold!
 
And this year’s WoW will be even more incredible! Here are the details:
 
  • Feb 27-28; 11am-5pm daily.
  • For artists not located in the Dripping Springs area, local indoor setups without overnight breakdown are provided. Outdoor options are available if you prefer.
  • Promotion throughout the area including Austin.
  • The ‘Welcome to the WoW Tour” event will be changed from a community-facing event to a participants social. We will refocus our resources and funds to broader promo in the Austin area.
  • This year, in addition to home studios, galleries, and hubs, we’ll also be welcoming local craft stores to join the Tour.
  • Our Map Sheets are expanding to accommodate more artists and sponsors.
  • The Map Sheet will also be a user-friendly app to the public will be able to plan their route. This will definitely elevate the tourist experience!
  • Registration fee remains $50 to cover signage, promotions, coordination, and the Welcome to the WoW Tour event. Scholarships are available upon request.
 
Artist requirements:
  • Current DSAL member.
  • Commit to being open both days 11-5 either at your home studio or a hub location.
  • Provide 3 images of sample artwork and 1 image of your studio space to be used in DSAL promos.
 
Timeline:
  • Applications open October 01, 2026.
  • Optional WoW Art Tour Q&A Zoom October 13 at 6:30pm.
  • Applications close on October 31, 2026. 
  • All artists will be advised of participation and hub location, if applicable, by November 09, 2026.
  • Brochures are available for distribution by December 07, 2026.
  • ‘WoW Tour Participants Social’ February 11, 2027 at 6pm. No need to bring art, we’ll use the photos you submit in your application. Everyone can share their plans and pickup their Kits.
  • Participants’ Map Sheets and yard signs will be distributed at the WoW Tour Participants Social on February 11, 2027.

100% of fees go toward publicity of the event starting in February including flyers, passports for the weekend, social media boosts, newspaper/TV coverage, etc. IF any money is left over after expenses and credit card fees, it will be returned equally to all participants.
